10 People Who Died Tragically While Trying To Break World Records

1. Sailendra Nath Roy in France
Indian stuntman and daredevil Sailendra Nath Roy attempted to break the Guinness world record by using his hair in 2013 for the farthest distance traveled on a zip wire. Halfway across Darjeeling's Teesta River, he is thought to have been subjected to a major cardiac arrest, and his fans' cheers turned to horror screams when they realized he was dead.
2. Haris Suleman
17-year-old Indian Har Suleman was attempting to fly around the world in 30 days in 2014, in a bid to break the record for the youngest person in the world to do so in such a short time. The plane crashed shortly after leaving Pago Pago in American Samoa however, killing both Haris and his father.
3. Janaka Basnayake
The 24-year-old Janaka Basnayake lived in Sri Lanka. He decided to set the record for burying himself alive. He dug a pit, 10 feet deep on a Saturday morning, and sealed himself in a wooden chamber. Its body was coated with soil at 9:30am. He was found unconscious about 7 hours later, when they dug him up. He was declared dead shortly after.
4. Juan Francisco Guillermo
Juan Francisco Guillermo, from Chile, was a cyclist. He was trying to cycle around 5 continents in over 155,000 miles. Within 5 years he wanted it done so he could set a world record. He had conquered 795 flat tires, and only 328 tubes to be repaired. He was driving on a highway in Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima province when he was on the last stretch of his voyage. When struck by a truck. He was killed instantly. He had covered more than 74,000 miles until he was put to death.
5. Diana Paris
Diana Paris has joined 220 people from 28 countries to set the world record to free-fall from an airplane for the largest party. Her parachute reserve was deployed too late, and she plummeted to death.
6. Garman
Garman, 56, was attempting to set the world record for the deepest 1,200-foot recreational scuba dive. He did not reach the point of the rendezvous, and was drowned.
7. Jessica Dubroff
Jessica Whitney Dubroff was a seven-year - old pilot trainee who tried to set the record for being the youngest person to fly an aircraft across the World. In 1996 she was accompanied by her flight instructor and her friend, and the plane flipped and crashed when they tried to take off in bad weather, killing all three passengers.
8. Nicholas Mevoli
Nicholas Mevoli, 32, tried to break U.S. men 's record of 71 meters for deepest dive without fins in 2013. The world record is around 101 metres. He surfaced after hitting 72 meters, and even signaled that he was okay. Blood began flowing out of his mouth due to some pressure issues on his lungs, and he died a few hours later.
9. Lowell Bayles
Died in a freak accident attempting to break the world speed record, his plane's fuel cap came off and hit Bayles in the head, knocking him unconscious.
10. Javad Palizbanian
The Iranian gimmick-man died trying to break the record for the longest jump on a motorcycle over 22 buses, unfortunately crashing into the 13th and fracturing his leg.
