Man beats girlfriend to death after she refused having sex with him

The police in Oyo state have arrested 26-year-old Shagbada Erigga allegedly killing his girlfriend, Happiness Winifred, 30, for refusing to have sex with him. Parading the suspect before newsmen today June 30, the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP. Chuks Enwonwu, said that the suspected murderer, Erigga invited Happiness, a mother of three, to his home to spend the night with him on June 21. They got into a heated argument after she refused to have sex with him. He punched her three times. She slumped and died and then he dumped her body inside a well in the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital. The police boss said men of the Ojoo Police Station began an investigation after one Mr. Agu Benson, a resident of Oritoke Area of Ojoo, Ibadan came to the police station to report that he went to fetch water in the well in his compound on June 25 and discovered a floating body. Nigeria, US, others excluded from list of travellers permitted to enter Europe from July 1

Ahead of the planned reopening of its borders to international travellers on July 1, the European Union Commission has released a list of 54 countries that qualify for travels into Europe and Nigeria is conspicuously absent. Schengenvisainfo.com reports that citizens from Nigeria, Brazil, Qatar, the US and Russia would not be allowed to travel into Europe until such a time when the epidemiological situation in their countries with regards to COVID-19 improves. According to the report, the countries whose citizens have been granted permits into Europe include Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Australia, Bahamas, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Canada. Cristiano Ronaldo has broken yet another record in his glittering career with his goal against Bologna on Monday making him the leading Portuguese scorer in Serie A history. Oyo state govt modifies resumption of schools in the state; Teachers to resume on June 29 while students on July 6

Barring any last-minute change, the Oyo State Government has modified the resumption of schools in the state that was earlier scheduled for June 29. The Government had earlier directed all terminal classes including Primary Six (Pry 6), Junior Secondary School Three (JSS3) and Senior Secondary School Three (SSS3) to resume on June 29 ahead of preparations for their various exams. However, a statement released today by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, said Teachers will be the only ones to resume on Monday, June 29 while students in terminal classes will resume on July 6. Adisa said the state government will on July 15 review the compliance level in the different schools to determine whether the remaining classes would resume or wait till September. “By the new arrangement, Teachers are to resume to the schools on Monday June 29, 2020, while students in critical classes including Primary 6, JSS3 and SS3 will resume a week later on July 6, 2020. COVID-19: Nigerian govt gives updates on lockdown

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Monday, said it would continue to monitor developments nationwide in order to take informed decisions by the end of June, on the second phase of the lockdown. Boss Mustapha, the chairman of PTF on COVID-19 and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said this at the daily press briefing on Monday in Abuja. Nigeria may hit 100,000 cases of COVID-19 by Sept.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria, IHVN, Dr. Patrick Dakum on Monday predicted that Nigeria may record over 100,000 cases of Coronavirus in the next two or three months (September) even as he urged the 36 state Governors to take responsibility in tackling the spread of the virus. Speaking on a television programme, Dakum who said the country may not experience a second wave of the virus said the current rise in cases was just an exponential rise and not second wave. He said: “It is extremely difficult to put a figure to it but from what we have now because from 5,000 a month, we get to another 5,000 a month and now you get 17,000. If we don’t do anything about the people that are infected because most of the new infections were a result of the carelessness of people, we are still going to see that as we move on. “If we are not careful within the next two or three months Nigeria may get over 100,000 cases. Reopening guidelines: NCDC orders churches, mosques to shut toilets, sales outlets

JESUSEGUN ALAGBE The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Saturday issued guidelines for the reopening of religious centres across the country, asking children and people aged 60 and above to avoid worship centres for the time being. It also said public toilets and sales outlets in churches and mosques must be shut during services. This comes after the Federal Government lifted the ban on religious and other public gatherings to check the spread of COVID-19. According to the guidelines posted on its website, the NCDC said before reopening, religious houses should fumigate their auditoriums, car parks and other buildings by wiping all surfaces with a disinfecting agent.
