Cristiano Ronaldo breaks another record in Bologna win

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken yet another record in his glittering career with his goal against Bologna on Monday making him the leading Portuguese scorer in Serie A history.

Ronaldo tucked in a penalty to give Juventus the lead in a tie that ended in a 2-0 win after Paulo Dybala scored the other goal in a spectacular fashion.

The strike was his 43rd in the Serie A since joining the club from Real Madrid, one more than the 42 his compatriot Rui Costa managed in the eight years he spent at Fiorentina and Milan between 1994-2006.

The goal was his 22nd in the Serie A this season, although he is still five behind the current top scorer Ciro Immobile, who has bagged an impressive 27 goals for Lazio as they seek to wrestle Juventus to the title.

The 35-year-old had struggled for form since the return of football, and was part of the team that lost to Napoli in the Copa Italia finals with manager Maurizio Sarri admitting after the game that Ronaldo was "lacking sharpness".

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is already the top-scoring Portuguese player in Premier League history following his 84 goals for Manchester United, and also holds the record in La Liga after his staggering 311 goals in 292 appearances for Real Madrid.
