  • 1. COVID-19: Germany donates €26m to Nigeria
  • Germany has on Monday announced the donation of €26m to support Nigeria’s COVID-19 response, as reported by punch, adding that, the donation was in demonstration of its solidarity and cooperation with Nigeria amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
  • Further noted that the funds would provide humanitarian assistance in the North East, especially in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States.
  • 2. Democracy Day: FG declares June 12 Public Holiday
  • The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 12, 2020 as a public holiday, to mark this year’s Democracy Day.
  • Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, in a statement issued Monday in Abuja disclosed that, the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government.

  • The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as the leader, who saw tomorrow by making agriculture a priority five years ago when he came into power, at the flag-off of distribution of inputs to farmers by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as parts of mitigation efforts against COVID-19.

  • The Lagos State House of Assembly, on Monday passed a vote of confidence in the Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, after clearing him of corruption allegations, according to reports, further gathered that, the House, unanimously passed the vote of confidence, through a voice vote conducted by the Majority Leader, Mr Sanai Agunbiade, who acted as the speaker during the plenary.

UPDATED: Nigerian Combat Helicopter Pilot Arotile MISTAKENLY KILLED By Her Ex-Schoolmate - NAF Clarifies Arotile's shocking death came only eight months after she was commissioned as Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot. According to the Air Force spokesman, Ibikunle Daramola, Arotile "was inadvertently hit by the reversing vehicle of an excited former Air Force Secondary School classmate while trying to greet her." Man, 25, rapes Ogun septuagenarian in her sleep.

Men of the Ogun State Police Command, on Wednesday, arrested a 25-year-old man, Wasiu Bankole, for forcefully having carnal knowledge of a septuagenarian, while she was asleep. The suspect was apprehended 24 hours after allegedly committing the crime at Abule Lemode, Ijoko, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report by the victim at the Agbado Division in Sango-Ota. The PPRO stated that the victim complained that her attacker broke into her room around 8pm on Tuesday, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, while she was asleep. The victim was, however, rescued by one of her neighbours, who ran into her room and saved her from the rapist.
